Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
shouldn't be taken so badly as it usually is. I find it funny to see inversion of normal behavior of a Vulcan . Sure, script is full of holes, but if you ignore cannons you can find it amusing. I see it more character than pure sci-fi movie, especially due to the fact that Spock is still being searched for - this time for his inner self. To bad that end is "somewhat" hardly understandable, but who could understand Him from us mere mortals? After all, it takes a trip to the  middle of the Galaxy just to find Him!

Directed by Shatner, if we disregard script and effects, movie brings (yet again) story of friendship, teamwork and inner quest of Enterprise crew members. This time, more or less, they all get involved into serious tasks. What Star Trek 5 didn't emphasize is humor built into script. I mean, after all the hassle to get there and find God who has problem answering simple question stated by Kirk: "What does God need with a spaceship?" With just little bit of tweaking this might be the most hilarious Star Trek episode ever. But, with little bit of imagination, you can fill the holes in script and laugh... Really loud! Even if you don't like the movie, you can still make fun out of it! What most Star Trek "fans" do...

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home brings Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scotty, Sulu, Uhura, and Chekov back to 20th Century in and episode filled with lots of humor to save the humpback whales... No, actually Earth endangered by alien probe, but somehow related to  them. Once again, plot involved time travel and some of the funny scenes include cloaked Warbird docked in San Francisko. Indeed, Star Trek IV is extremely relaxing and it is 119 minutes of intense enjoyment. To me seems that Leonard Nimoy as director always got relaxing episodes.

Fortunately for future Earth, Warbird is capable of transporting these creatures with little bit of Scottys tweaking. 20th century whale expert involved in the plot get convinced that future Federation is good intended and that few whales can stand time travel....

Star Trek 3 DVD Search for Spock

Star Trek Search for Spock DVD Cover

Get Star Trek 3 DVD Search for Spock here!

Star Trek III: Search for Spock shows how director (Leonard Nimoy) can save himself.... Not for bad movie, but for his character (Mr. Spock) that died and gets resurrected, with a bit of genesis technology... Logically, his friends have to steal Enterprise in order to rescue him, but every good Starfleet captain eventually has to undergo that procedure - steal his own ship that is. Klingons are naturally in the way and Spock has to get back home as well in order to get his mind back. Exchange of Enterprise for Flingon Warbird makes nice intro into following Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.

This movie brings all together: Federation bureaucracy, Klingon villains, planetary destruction (even if artificial one, it's still a planet!), story of friends loyalty, Vulcan mysticism, and great deal of fun for everyone (not only Star Trek fans). This movie is one of my favorite because I like mixture of emotional sci-fi however contradictory it may sound!

Star Trek Wrath of Khan DVD Cover

Get Wrath of Khan Star Trek DVD for you here!

Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan featured Ricardo Montalban as genetically modified villain armed with ultimate doomsday weapon seeking revenge upon Kirk. Original idea from "Space Seed" episode was developed into great blend of dramatic play and submarine chase through space clouds. What Director's brings cut are extended dialogues making clearer side characters and sub-plots interwoven throughout the movie.

Director Nicholas Meyer made great job by not only directing, but with screenplay as well. Even though original plot is extremely simple, sub-plots give it real depth and additional dimension. Commentary and interviews on extra DVD are today already part of Star Trek collectors history with original actors William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Ricardo Montalban, and Deforest Kelley.
