Star trek The Original Series Season 3 [Blu-ray] features 24 original episodes plus Where No Man Has Gone Before (was not on the air). Apparently, this release will contain remastered Star Trek material similar like in previous two seasons readily available on Blu-ray media.
I speculate it will contain similar material to remastered edition on DVD released previous year. Main difference to DVD version will probably be inclusion of both CGI and original effects like in previous two Star Trek blu ray editions. CBS will surely give the Blu-ray release a brand new video encode at 1080p compressed with VC-1. This is welcome feature because season three has effect rich episodes like "Spectre of the Gun", "The Tholian Web" and "The Enterprise Incident".

The only problem you may have with Blu ray version is that most flaws will be clearly visible and you will be able to see even transitions on makeup. For sure, audio will be ultimate in quality, and I believe that even mono will be included. What puzzles me is that there is one DVD less than in season two. I can bet, that surprise might come (remastered Star Trek Season three had "The Cage",starred by Jeffrey Hunter , pilot episode shot in 1964 that was rejected) in form of seventh blu ray disc with unannounced bonus.
For sure, after Star Trek The Original Series Season 3 on Blu ray goes in it's release on December 15th (what is convenient time for gifts) boxed version of all three seasons will follow. So far price is maybe little bit overrated, but with time, it will surely drop, and good thing is that if you buy on preorder, you normaly get lowest price on delivery day. I hope that with arival of three in a row pack, price for all three season that got excellent remastering, will be even lower. Now Original Series Startrek gets complete!

Slow but steady Star Trek Series are landing on Blu-ray dock. Following transfer of Star Trek movies to new format, publishers decided to do it chronologically. Not surprisingly, first two seasons (1 and 2) of Star Trek The Original Series 1 and 2 are readily available, with Season Three (3) pending release on December 15, 2009 and is available for pre-order. It is no wander that they arrive at such slow pace, because there is lot's of work with remastering of original material in order to use full capability of Blu-ray.

Even better, not only original material went through remastering (retaining original 4:3 format), also effects are redone with modern CGI in high definition. Fun thing is that you can easily switch between redone and original ones, on the fly! Great for dazzling people. 7.1 sound is over 4000 kpbs and image is fabulous. There is clear difference in comparison to previous versions.

Star Trek the Original Series Season 1 and 2 on Blu-ray are excellent renewal for any true Star Trek fan as well as any science fiction lover. There is no reason not to believe taht CBS/Paramount will not do equally well with forthcoming The Original Series Season 3.

In short: available Star Trek series are Original Series Season 1 and Season 2. Inside Star Trek Blu-ray replicator you can find planned seasons as well, however, release date is not yet known.
